How to Back up Data in iPhone with iCloud and iTunes?

iPhone is a smartphone which is combined with camera phone, personal digital assistant, media player and wireless communication equipment. It’s very popular all around the world after going to the Market in 2007.

It’s so powerful that iPhone users take it as a data base to store contacts, photos, videos, SMS, MMS, apps, device settings and so much more. Therefore, it’s essential to back up data in case your data get lost or you want to transfer them to a new device. Two methods are available for iPhone users to back up data: iCloud and iTunes.

 How to back up data with iCloud?

iCloud is a kind of cloud storage service innovated by Apple. And it offers users 5GB storage space for free. Users can purchase for additional storage with an annual fee. iCloud enables to sync purchased music, apps, books, etc. between multiple iOS devices and Mac. You just need a few simple steps to back up your data properly and safely.

iCloud has ability to back up the most important data on your device using iOS 5 or later. After you have enabled Backup on your iPhone in Settings> iCloud > Backup & Storage, it will automatically back up data as long as the screen is locked and device is connected to a power source and Wi-Fi.

Moreover, you can manually back up data in iPhone when it connected to internet over Wi-Fi. Steps are same to above: click on Back Up Now—Settings—iCloud—Backup & Storage.

How to back up data with iTunes?

iTunes is a perfect and simple way to back up your iOS devices. Here’s guidance of processing iTunes.

1. Connect the iPhone to computer with a USB cable.
2. Set up iTunes.
3. Right click on your iPhone under DEVICES in the left menu and scroll down to Back Up.
4. Make sure the Summary tab at the top of iTunes is selected.
5. Automatically Back Up to This computer.
6. Click on Back Up Now.

You can open iTunes Preferences and select the Devices tab to check if backup completed successfully. Once finished, the name of device as well as the date and time of backup will be listed under Device backups.
