General Knowledge of Data Recovery (3)

The first article of general knowledge of data recovery positioned readers to pay attention to some important tips to restore data to the greatest extent. In the second article, we discussed the factors that can affect success rate of data recovery. And in this article, we’ll give you some advice to prevent disaster from happening. Anyhow, prevention is better than cure.

  • Do not cut files directly. Sometimes, you may come across a bad thing like that: you cut files to another disk, but an error occurs, which results in no data in original disk as well as specified disk. It seems a system bug, but things like that could happen. Therefore, you’d better copy files to targeted disk if files are very important. And then delete files in original disk if copied files work well.
  • Do not make disk defragment directly in the partition with too many directory files. It’s very hard to achieve data recovery once an error occurs in the process of disk defragment. It is recommended that you copy data to another disk and then format the disk you want to do disk defragment, and then copy data back. Complicated as it is, it’s safe and beneficial.
  • Do not adjust partition size by a third-party tool. It’s easy to encounter unexpected things like power off when you adjust partitions. And once this kind of things happen, data are hard to be regained, because data are damaged seriously when moved here and there. As for this issue, it is highly recommended that you use disk management owned by Windows to do partition after backing up data. It’s much safer.
All in all, data backup is the best solution to protect data.
